The Department of English is running in the College since establishment (1997). The Department was initially run by two faculty numbers; Retired Professor Shiv Bhushan Shukla (University of Allahabad) and Dr. Govind Das (1997-1998). Afterwards, Reeta Agnihotri joined in (1998-2005). She was accompanied by Dr. K.K. Vishwakarma (2005-2007). Later, Professor A.N Dwivedi, Professor S.B. Shukla, Dr. Pallavi Srivastava, Anugamini Roy and Dr. Govind Das successfully run the department (2007-2017). Since latest recruitment in 2017, Miss Jaya Singh, Dr. Jharna Malaviya and Dr. Ajay Kumar Yadav joined the Department as Assistant Professors and are working meticulously to enrich the Institution.

Faculty members are skilled, learned and hard-working and are committed to impart the knowledge of English Literature in understanding life, society and human nature. It focuses on holistic growth of students personality, as envisioned by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Similarly, the department is also blessed with sincere, hardworking and inquisitive students. The department conducts remedial, tutorial and seminar classes with special focus on the English language of students. During the corona pandemic, the department successfully conducted classes in the online mode. Every year the department organizes essay competition and various extra co-curricular activities.

Apart from teaching, the faculty numbers of the department keep themselves oriented towards writing research papers and getting them published in reputed journals. Dr. Ajay Kumar Yadav has published 9 research papers and one chapter to his credit in reputed national and International publications. Miss Jaya Singh has published 12 research papers in journals of International repute. Dr. Jharna Malaviya has published 5 research papers and one translation of poems in journal of International repute.

The department is striving hard to initiate M.A. and Ph.D. in English The goal of the department is to introduce new methods of teaching such as use of audiovisual aids, questionnaire methods, feedback methods etc. to create an innovative learning environment for providing improved teaching-learning experience to students.
