About the Department
The department was established in 1997 as a regular department in faculty of Science. Currently, the In the department,Chemical Society was constituted in the year 2001 with Dr. Kalpana Gupta as First co-ordinator of the society. This society has organised various competitions over the years such as group discussions, essay writing, poetry chart competition, quiz competition etc. In 2009-10, chemical society organised seminar on the topic Green Chemistry in which Prof. Krishna Mishra, Secretary, National Academy of Sciences was the main speaker. Prof. Alka Tiwari, Allahabad Medical College also delivered lecture on green chemistry. Prof. J.D. Pandey, former Head, Department of chemistry, University of Allahabad was also present in the seminar. Seminar on the topic Green solvent was organised on 5th feb. 2011. The main speaker of the seminar was Dr. Siddharth Pandey, Professor IIT Delhi. Also, Dr. Shobha Pandey, Scientist, Jamia Millia. Islamia University also delivered has lecture. In 2019-20, chart & essay competition was organised on the topic “Jal Hi Jeevan Hai.
