The department was established in 1997 as a regular department. The department was initially run by single faculty member till 2004. It is currently being run by two permanent faculty members. Under the banner of zoological society, several extension lectures on different topics such as quizzes, projects and assay competitions were organized. To develop leadership qualities and interactions among the students, in addition to routine curricular activities, different outreach activities have been carried out on a yearly basis under the auspices of Zoological society. Myriads of extracurricular activities have enabled students to develop their skills. Following are the activities that have been carried out by the department: such as Essay competition on important contemporary topic in science and environment, Poster competitions (Inter and intra Institutional), Intercollegiate competitions, Extension lectures, Books by faculties, Quiz competitions, Conferences, Exhibitions, Field trip, and Project and dessertations.
